We examined infants’ categorization of and preferences for sex differences in biological motion.
Point-light displays were created from women’s and men’s treadmill walking.
We found positive evidence for categorization in infant boys, but not girls.
Male PLDs were preferred to female PLDs.
These effects may stem from gender differences in infant motion processing.
We found no age-related differences in performance between 4 and 18 months in any of our measures.
